PSA: Please Stop Wearing Backpacks On Crowded Subway Cars
I'm sure it is an honest mistake. I can't believe most are actually *looking* to be an asshole with the backpack, it's just a side effect.
But it is symptomatic of people's lack of consideration, lack of awareness, and general cluelessness nowadays.
Regardless of how long they've been in the city, it doesn't take a genius to realize that a big bag strapped to your back is obnoxious in a crowded area; or that standing in front of the doors when people are trying to get on is obnoxious; or that shoving your way onto a train without letting people get off first is obnoxious (and stupid).
There shouldn't be a learning curve. It should be common sense or, at the very least, common decency that was ingrained early in life. The former I can excuse on an individual basis, because some people's brains just aren't wired that way.
